Easter always brings a sense of excitement! Spring is in the air and the end of the year is drawing closer every day. Keep your kiddos engaged with these Easter themed resources- even when the warm weather threatens to take their attention.

I had a coworker who said, "We're always working on the alphabet in Kindergarten!" I think this applies to other grades as well. Alphabet work is such an important part of basic phonics reading and writing skills. Because of this, I have some fun alphabet activities that focus on uppercase and lowercase letter matching or first sound and letter matching. There's Flower Match or Easter Eggs Match.

These each come with options to differentiate your instruction to fit the needs of your your young learners. The Flower match has a numbers option through 20 and the Eggs have either beginning sounds or just matching the letters. These will require some prep to print and cut out, but if you laminate them, they can be used over and over in a variety of ways. Add them to a sensory bin, have them for a center, use in a small group, the list goes on!

For those with younger toddlers, or kids working on fine motor skills with scissors, I have this Easter Egg Fine Motor Cutting Practice. It comes with color or black and white options to give you the option to save on ink. There are a variety of eggs with different patterns for your child to follow. Since it's a cutting activity, it also makes this a no prep resource! Just print the pages you want to use and your child or student does the work! If you're using these as a center, you can just print multiple copies and place them all in a basket for the kids to easily access.

Kids love Easter Egg Hunts, so why not use that in our learning? It engages the brain in different ways to search out the eggs and then have an educational piece to it. This also gets kids moving, so you could use this as a write the room center activity or a whole group one. I have two options available in my shop, but this could easily be applied to a variety of topics! The two I have are Word Hunt and a Subtraction within 100 Hunt.

These activities both align with Utah's first grade standards, but they can be used as review for other ages as well.

The Word Hunt comes with options to write the words or just check them off a list. This is helpful in a classroom setting because kids can leave the eggs where they found them. It also helps them see if they have found all the words. I had my students read the words as they found them, to work on word recognition.

The Subtraction Hunt works on subtraction within 100 by tens. You will need some plastic eggs for this one to hide the problems inside. Kids find the egg, write the problem and solve. This one you will need to remind the kids to put the egg back how they found it. Some of my kiddos got too excited and wanted to run off to the next one.

To continue the subtraction content, I also have this Easter Egg Subtraction Within 100 Puzzle. There are a few options and covers the same standards as the egg hunt. If you want it to be a true puzzle, you'll want to cut it apart first. If you're using it as a center with multiple children, I would also print them on different colors, so they don't get mixed up. If not, you can let kids work on cutting skills and then do the puzzle after.

For those who want one purchase to cover reading, writing, and math, I also have an Easter Activities Packet. This packet covers alphabet, CVC, CVCe, addition and subtraction within 5, 10, and 20, and has a few writing prompts. This gives options for differentiation or helps cover a few age groups if you are homeschooling multiple ages of kids.

Easter can be an enjoyable experience for yourself and your students when you engage their ability to play with their learning. It helps them remember better and learn deeper. I hope these resources help make it a better experience for all of you!
