Let's start from the beginning, shall we?

As young girl would pretend to be a teacher and teach her 4 younger siblings with her little whiteboard and magnetic alphabet letters. All she wanted to do was become a teacher and a mom.

Flash forward, this girl grew and went to college at Brigham Young University. She studied Elementary Education and learned a lot about childhood development, teaching English language learners, and the importance of reading. She decided to do a full-year internship for her last year, rather than a semester student teaching.

Back in 2016, this young teacher started her first year teaching third grade at a Title I school. Her class was full of language learners and students from a variety of backgrounds. Then, in 2017, she changed schools and taught first grade through to the time of online learning with Covid-19. While the number of language learners decreased, her class size grew and the number of students and parents with difficult backgrounds also increased. To try to better help her young students, she began a masters in Early Childhood Education from Grand Canyon University. After a lot of reflection, she switched to kindergarten where she taught the lowest testing kindergarteners to help prepare them for first grade.

During the end of time with kindergarten, her husband finished his graduate program, so she left public education. They moved to a different state and she worked on healing from the hard parts of teaching.

There you have the basics of my story. Education has always been important to myself and my family. I may not be currently in my own classroom, but I have been subbing in my local school district and continue to create products to help in schools, since I have more time to do so. Many of the products in my shop were created while I was teaching every day. I used them with my own students and shared them with my team. We saw students enjoy learning while making a lot of growth.

I hope to continue to help teachers wherever I can. This blog will include tips, helps, and talk about my resources available in my shop on TeachersPayTeachers. I hope you'll follow along and be able to feel empowered to keep working forward to a better future for our students.
